What we campaign for:

  • putting democratic principles into effect by boosting civil society and supporting decentralised structures in developing countries
  • developing a cosmopolitan and tolerant society in Germany through development education and public relations activities.

 

Who we are:

  • We are a non-profit organisation with a diversified range of personnel and services which focus on seconding development workers as professionals for a fixed term.
  • We combine professional and intercultural skills with social commitment.
  • Thanks to the profile, know-how and abilities acquired abroad, our returnees are well-appreciated on the German and the international labour market alike.

 

What we do:

  • As one of the leading European personnel secondment services in development co-operation,we are active world-wide in selected priority regions.
  • We advise and promote government and local partners as well as non-governmental organisations and self-help initiatives.
  • We work on a partnership-oriented, participatory basis in close proximity to our target groups and support processes of structural change from a micro or meso level.
  • We promote local competence by supporting local professionals.
  • We introduce young Europeans to international co-operation.
  • We have an effect on public debate on development issues and participate in the intercultural dialogue.

 

How we work:

  • We have a participatory culture that assures the transparency of decisions and active involvement of staff in the development of programmes.
  • We regard the ded Head Office as a guidance and service unit.
  • Through our offices in the developing countries we keep in touch with our partners and ensure that the quality of our work is maintained.
  • We collaborate with other institutions of development co-operation and, at the local level, offer services to organisations without an office abroad.
  • We finance our activities with funds from the Federal budget and, in addition,we tap further public and private funding sources.
  • We see to it that our professionals are prepared individually for their assignment and can continue to acquire know-how and abilities.
  • With our returnees,we campaign for tolerance and a cosmopolitan attitude in Germany.
